DC Srinagar conducts surprise inspection of tuition centers | KNO

Instructs non-compliant centers for immediate convenience of all requisite facilities; seeks compliance report from CEO Srinagar within three days

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 13 (KNO) : on the instructions of Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, today visited and conducted a surprise inspection of various tuition centers operating in the Srinagar City. Dr. Shah, who was accompanied by Director School Education Kashmir, G N Itoo, and Chief Education Officer Srinagar, Farooq Dar, besides other district officers, took stock of basic facilities available to students at these centers as prescribed in the J&K Regulation of Private Tuition Centers Rules of 2010. During the inspection, some 10 tuition centers were found lacking basic facilities for students. Several of these centers were also found violating the maximum prescribed roll limit of 40 students in a class room. Dr. Shah spoke to students taking tuition at these centers and inquired about facilities available to them therein on the occasion. He noted their concerns and assured of rectification of issues hampering smooth tuition at the centers at the earliest. The DC said a helpline with a toll-free number will be set up for students to report their concerns regarding their tuitions to the district administration and assured that the students can expect prompt resolutions of problems. He issued strict instructions to tuition centers found lacking basic facilities for students to ensure immediate convenience of all requisite facilities and directed the CEO Srinagar for submitting a compliance report in regard to these centers within the next three days. He warned of strict action as per law against the non-compliant centers. Meanwhile, concerned Tehsildars and Zonal Education Officers have been instructed to inspect tuition centers within their respective jurisdictions and furnish status reports to the CEO, who shall submit a joint compliance report from all educational zones of the district to the DC (KNO)
